Don was a surprise baby. His mother also took in many foster children over the years.  When he was three years old, after hearing his mother say that one of the babies was crying because he was hungry, Don hopped on his tricycle, went to Ridge Road and shoplifted three jars of baby food from the Buy Rite.  Needles to say, his mother was not too happy about the shoplifting.

During his youth, Don was your local Times Union paperboy. After doing this job for a while he decided that hiring someone else to do the deliveries allowed him to earn extra income while having time to do the things he enjoyed doing.  Of course, he handled the collection of money from the customers!  At the age of 16 Don bought his mother a new freezer. When we got married she gave it back to him because she wouldn’t need all that freezer space with him out of the house! While working for Rochester Savings Bank right after college, he was mistakenly picked up for bank robbery.  It was only the patch on Don’s jacket that saved him from being arrested.  That was the only thing different from the bank photo of the actual robber.

Don was introduced to Patricia by a friend and they married on May 17, 1975. He has two siblings:  Barbara, 78 years old and a retired nurse and Richard, who lives in Arizona. Don and Patricia had several pets over the years, currently dogs Roscoe and Champ. He was an avid animal lover and spends a lot of time at the dog park where his witty humor is enjoyed by many.

Don loved to go to Las Vegas for many years. Through Patricia’s work place, they took many exotic trips around the world.  Most notable was a Mediterranean cruise on their 25th anniversary.  Patricia gave Don a surprise 70th birthday party for him on January 21 of this year.  He was so happy and animated that day. They also purchased a condo in West Palm Beach 5 years ago and have enjoyed winters there since that time.  Don loves hockey, baseball.  Most of all, he loves to tell jokes and tease anyone that will listen. Don was passionate about everything he cared about. He will be deeply missed and always remembered in the hearts of all those that loved him.
