Greece: September 12, 2017, at the age of 95. John is predeceased by his wife, Mary Cipolla. He is survived by his children; John (Toni) Cipolla, Debbie Cipolla & Anthony Cipolla; grandchildren, Tina (Bob) Youst & Michelle (Jose) Aponte; great-grandchildren, Josh, Antonio, Brianna & Alexa; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters,  Jennie Fonte & Terry Spinelli. John was an Army veteran, serving during WWII.

John’s visitation will be held 4-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30AM on Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 West Ridge Rd. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. 

John was born on February 3, 1922 to Antonio & Carmela Cipolla in Rochester, NY. He served in the U.S. Army during WW2 from 1942 until 1945. John fought in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Buldge. He was in Operation Market Garden in Holland and a Paratrooper in the 101 Division. John was a member of the local chapter of the Battle of the Buldge and he would take military trips to Europe. He took pride in giving speeches to children about WW2 and he also wrote a book titled, “A Long Way from Home.” During his free time John enjoyed refurnishing furniture. John gave incredible service to his country that will never be forgotten and we will always be deeply grateful for his sacrifice. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staffs at the 2300 wing of Unity Hospital, Grandville Mary Regina Unit & Hildebrandt hospice for their compassionate care given to John. John will be fondly remembered and he will always be dearly missed by many family and friends.
